The question has always been asked-what is a cold air intake? In this article I will discuss what one is and the features and benefits.
Air intakes are designed in a way to provide colder air to the engine. Since cold air is denser than hot air it provides a noticeable amount of performance which will be of a benefit in numerous areas. Your Horsepower and torque will both increase and you will be rewarded with much better fuel economy.
Air intakes can be made of metal, plastic, rubber or a composite of materials mixed together. More efficient intakes are designed with a heat shield to block all of the hot air which will come from the engine during operation.
There are also some enhancements to a cold air intake system that can provide even more performance such as shortening the length of the intake,smoothing the interior of the intake to reduce resistance, deleting any type of silencing devices and increasing the overall width of the intake.
